Driving home the other day, I noticed a rainbow in the sky, so of course had to snap a picture. Kinda fitting seeing as my blog is entitled, Flying Through Rainbows.

Wedding Fun
Even though Jimney Cricket had a collapsed lung, he still wanted to participate in his good friend's wedding over the weekend. The wedding was a lot of fun. The groom was handsome and the bride was beautiful, and we all had a great time. Here are some of my favorite pics from the wedding:
As grooms men's gifts, the boys got samurai swords! Jimney was very excited.
The handsome boys.
The couple dancing their first dance.
Jimney and I.
Us again.
Beautiful sunset.
Night views of the city that came out blurry, but thought looked really neat.

The stain-glassed windows in the church.
The happy couple at the altar.
The reception hall had stunnig views of the city.

My Poor Jimney Cricket
Sorry I have been MIA. This past week was absolutely nutso. BFE and Jimney Cricket were both in the hospital! BFE, I knew would be in the hospital, but was not expecting Jimney to be in there and during the same week as her. He was admitted on Monday for a collapsed lung! Crazy! And I thought it was just gas, opps, my bad. She was in the hospital to remove a tumor from her brain! Again, crazy. Thankfully, both are doing so much better and both are at home and resting (well BFE is resting, Jimney is up and at 'em). Seriously though, these two are my better halves (or would that be thirds?), and I don't know what I would do without either of them. It was such a long, stressful week, but I am so glad that both are well again.
Here are some pics of Jimney:
After his surgery in the ER. He had to have a chest tube inserted to suck out the air in his lung cavity and to inflate his lung. He said the chest tube going in was extremely painful, and he didn't once scream or cry out. What a trooper!
All smiles! I think he's heavily medicated at this point.
I had to saran wrap him so he could take a shower. He wasn't allowed to get the wound wet right away.
Here's the side view.

Yay no Traffic!
Summer is officially here! And its not because 4th of July was earlier this week, or the fact that kids are no longer in school, or even the fact that it has been sweltering hot in DC; its because there is no traffic on my way home from work! Yay for it not taking me close to an hour to get home! Yay to the sun still being bright and full on my way home! Yay for it only taking me 24 minutes to get home! Yay, yay, yay! Gosh, I hope I haven't jinxed myself by posting this.
Jimney Cricket doesn't believe that summer traffic has started, so I had to take pictures to prove to him that I got home in less than 30 minutes!

PS - I know how dusty my dashboard is. Time to dust!

The Magicians
Reading is one of my favorite pastimes. I love reading and can get lost in a book easily. I also love reading different genres and can go from fantasy, young adults, romance, thrillers, fiction, historcial fiction and non-fiction. I tend to stick with contemporary writers, but do enjoy reading a classic every now and then. I just picked up, The Magicians, by Lev Grossman. Currently I am in my fantasy phase.

Fireworks
I honestly cannot remember the last time I saw the fireworks. It has been at least five years, maybe more. This year was no different. We were at a house party and if you looked through the trees, you could see the DC fireworks. So I tried to capture them as best as I could. Maybe when I have kids or something, I'll go see the fireworks again. Until then, I prefer to drink on the 4th.
I like that this one is blurry. Reminds me of when you're driving really fast and all the lights become one big blur.
One of the only green firework shots that I got. Fireworks seem to really like red.
Again, I like how blurry this is.
Had some sparkler type things. Like the effect of them on camera.
I like the light of the tiki torch and the cross illuminated in the distance.
Happy 4th Everybody! Hope it was a safe one!
Great Falls!
Over the Holiday weekend, Jimney Cricket (haha, finally came up with a nickname for the boyfriend, I'm sure he'll hate it) and I went hiking at Great Falls. I have never been to the falls before and it amazes me that we have something this beautiful right in my back yard. It was hella hot out, but not humid, so it was bearable. We didn't go swimming, though I kinda wish we had.
So amazing! And pretty!
Wish I had gotten a good pic of the Falls as they were cascasding down. But this is still gorgeous.
Duckies swimming in the canal.
Photoshopped this picture so that only the blue of the water pops out.
Jimney Cricket and I, after our long, hot, sweaty hike.
